History

Standing Room Only, the smallest bar in Canada, holds a rich history deeply rooted in the Ward neighbourhood of Guelph, Ontario. The bar's mission is about providing a sense of community and reviving the essence of the neighbourhood's past.

The Ward, with its vibrant past reminiscent of Prohibition-era speakeasies, adds allure to the neighborhood. Whispers of underground tunnels only deepen the area's mystique. Additionally, the establishment of the Biltmore hats factory down the road contributed to the neighborhood's cultural richness. Formerly Bruno’s Shell, a gas and service station, the building served as a focal point for locals from the early 1940s until 1964.
